The Word of the Year : Grace

2 years go, my niece was born. My brother sent us a variety of names, but ultimately decided on: Grace. I instantly new that God had provided our family with a miracle. He had brought grace into our lives! I felt the power and truth of this statement and I knew that these next few years would twist and shift the trajectory of our family (I still believe this.) .

Here years later, God has been filling me with an understanding of the word Grace. In a way I could not have imagined. I feel that this is the year, that the wisdom Grace, will fill us all. We will begin to see the power of the word working through us. This will be my first time doing a word of the year, but it has been so deeply in my spirit and on my tongue that I felt the need to express it.

Grace:

When looking up definitions of this word, I kept feeling as if the understanding fell short. Grace is a vibration, a function of Spirit that comes through, and between its conduit. It is something that fills the space when we have humbled ourselves enough to surrender to the present moment. We have the understanding that if we stop trying to run the show and allow for the Spirit that flows through all things to enter, then truly a miracle can be birthed before our eyes.

Grace is an aspect of our birthright, and the all knowing force, that we call God, is capable of pushing it forth whenever we allow it to be so. It is the gift that springs forth when we surrender control, let down our guard down and understand that it’s fine and normal that we don’t have all the answers.

I do not at all understand the mystery of grace - only that it meets us where we are but does not leave us where it found us.
— Anne Lamott

American novelist, Anne Lamott says, “I do not at all understand the mystery of grace - only that it meets us where we are but does not leave us where it found us.” This is all you need to know to activate/call on grace in your life. Just surrender and call on the highest power, by whatever name you know it as (God, Allah, Oludamare, Great Spirit, Wakan Tanka, Adonai, etc.).

Your affirmation can be as simple as this:

“I call on the power of Grace to get me through the things I do see, and the things I can’t.

I acknowledge it’s presence moving within me, and permeating every aspect of my life.

I surrender the fear, anxiety, shame, guilt, confusion, (fill in whatever else you are holding.), that I feel, to the power of (insert your higher power),

that walks with and guides me.”

The gift of grace pulls us out of situations when we have no idea how to get through. It is the shield of protection we can only have when we stop trying to create one.

As this year continues to progress, and you find yourself on the beautiful new foundation we spoke about in the 2020 article, you may find yourself unsure of how to proceed through your old systems. I offer that you call on the Grace that surpasses understanding. The mystery that is so very present this year, and has the power to ignite change in ways unimaginable.

Call on grace to be with you in those new beginning moments, and you will find that you’re protected and provided for in ways you can’t imagine.
